Snippet 3:
After having pulled out the filters and attached the strap that came with it, she had donned the breathing apparatus and moved out of the cave. The armada likes to attack things in places you can’t normally fight back, like the air, or the water supply. Heck even the land itself will start hunting you if you dont destroy the wretched layer of crystal that creeps over all living things, so the filter were just another precaution that she needed to feel safe. Still carrying the Splinter Rifle, she started scouting outside of the small closed cavern that the Sru had torn open in search of a fresh meal.
What she saw was something she would never get used to, no matter how many times she saw it. The way the Sru feasted was… Below anythig living. It was as if they ate with their entire bodies, ripping holes in themselves and tossing in the plumb pieces of flesh and bone. Their arms and legs flailing in the ecstacy of eating. They still chewed on some of it, but most of it they… “Inhaled”, for a lack of a better term, and then-*PffhooooOUUUU!!*
Eeuchrh! Tina had to revolt back into the cave just to avoid the sight she knew too well. Almost like bacteria, the excess energy they create from feasting makes them explode like a fissure into more Sru. They bloat up and blow that horrid artisian fog around and then POOF! More Sru. Those 5 or 6 of them that had come in to find her just become about a dozen, maybe more.
She heard them scamper off, in search of more “fuel”. Wretched monsters.
Looking out into the area again, she got a good view of her current location. The area was a plain, lots of high grass around with a few trees. A few select purple crystals stuck out like a sore thumb in the landscape while a light but noticeable indigo fog could be seen along the ground. The armada was already converting this area for the landing of a Hive. This wasn’t good at all, particularly because she was part of the scouting team that had to set up the space-to-ground teleporte-erh… Oh no.
She had to locate the others fast. She ran back into the cave and located the metallic backpack. She opened it as the familiar lightbased interface popped up. The white shining core of the pocket dimension lighting the entire cave with a faint light. She navigated over to the Team GPS and got it out of the pocket dimension. She put the box on the ground and activated the search wave.
Now all she could do was wait for the wave to ping and return from one of the other armors, backpacks or Team GPS’.
